The International Gemological Institute is a world leader in the gemological lab industry, and its education program is based on this world-class reputation for quality. Their specialty is in diamonds in their laboratory, grading, and educational services. Over the years, their education programs have been primarily classroom-based education courses, but they recently announced an expanded online course program that promises to be one of the finest on the market. Weaknesses are few with the IGI. Lack of name recognition for their education programs is about the only consideration. However, the worldwide reputation of the IGI name in gemological grading and lab services will quickly overcome this issue. Although still limited in scope, their education programs promise to gain more tremendous industry respect in the near future.
